It’s time to put the sinking ship back on top of the waves and set sail to a new land!
Now, music developes and evolves, and so do we have to do.
So latenightshow will be a lot different in the future. We will not let you
download music without permission from the artists. Instead we will
put all the focus on finding great music, new and old, which can inspire you
all to enhance your playlists and music archives. And now when there’s this
new invention called Spotify, well, then we can share music in a new way.
So the site will give you Spotify-links, youtube, streaming and links to
a lot of great music and links to where you can buy it. Hopefully there will
be some free MP3’s too, but that all depends upon the artists.
So start with I’ll bring you a MAGICAL Spotify playlist! A playlist I
choosed to call “Retro Heat” since a big deal of it is new music with a
retro 80’s touch. It’s a lot of electro, elektro pop, nu disco etc.
Im really sorry that I haven´t been able to update here for a while. I´m right now working full blast, flat put on another project – a HUGE project.
But as soon as things are under control I promise I will get this shit running again. Meanwhile you can check out previous posts and stuff on this blog.
As I promised yesterday I will give you a all swedish update. Sweden once upon a time had one of the biggest export of music in all of Europe. Abba, Ace Of Base, Roxette and many others. But something happened and the music being created in Sweden never really made it out off Sweden. Now there is some kind of renaissance of the old success. Nowadays Sweden have become quite known for its great electronic scene with artist such as Axwell, Eric Prydz, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, Stonebridge, John Dahlbäck and many many more, who all are some kind of trendsetters in the segment of House Music. How ever there is so much more than just those House acts. And today I´ll give you some of my favorites in Elektro Pop/Nu Disco/Indie Dance/Electro. Some of the tracks are with english vocals, others with swedish vocals.
So, give it a chance!
First off is a two man Elektro Pop outfit from Gothenburg (my homwtown). A lot of you definitely know about those guys and their brilliant music. I would even like to say that this is something by the best music ever created in Sweden, and probably one of the best band, modern times, in the world. At least in my opinion. So, ladies and gentlemen, I´ll give you The Tough Alliance!
This track called Neo Violence, is simply incredible! I lack words to explain it.
“No No need for a baseball bat
Don´t need no knife for a sharp attack“
Next is the one man show, Familjen (but sometimes on live sets assisted by another dude). The track is called “Det Snurrar I min Skalle“, which could be translated to “My Head Is Spinning”. This could be described as some kind of Electro Indie.
Now a producer who took the grand slam at the swedish grammy awards known as “grammisgalan”. This guy was quite unheard of untill he about a year ago produced a track together with swedish Singer/Songwriter/Artist Robyn. This collabo gained huge success and was fallowed up by a powerful line up of other great collabos. And this latest production is just outstanding! Dreamy vocals and an 80s-electronic sounding beat it defines this on going reinassance of the 80s. So, sit back and enjoy Kleerup and Marit Bergman with their track “3 AM“.
“Detektivbyrån” (The Private Investigator Bureau) is a very unique orchestra mixing some electronics with accordions and other more old fashioned instruments. It´s Old VS New in a very creative mix. This track is called Life/Universe. And just as most of their tracks it has a certain fairy-tale feeling to it, imagine myths and fables, like trolls and weird creatures in the depth of the dark woods.
And now some great Indie Dance from the band known as “Parken” (The Park). Their track “Jag Har Vart Vilsen, Lisa” (I have been mixed-up, Lisa) is some really uplifting and joyful Indie Dance.
Next off now is a the two man outfit “Air France“. They create music not very unlike the music of The Tough Alliance, but with more focus on harmonic melodies and less or no vocals. And this outfit is actuallt produced and distributed by the label of The Tough Alliance. So from their EP “No Way Down” comes the track “No Excuses”, And believe me, this is brillian. Imagine listening to it by the beach a hot summerday.
Now to a track from “Slagsmålsklubben” (The Fight club). This outfit creates some kind of video game music. Just think of an old Mega Man game or any kind of old Commodore 64 games and you probably have mental picture of it. Some of their music actually sound as if it was taken right out off an old console. This track called “Övningsköra” (Pratice Driving) is a more uptempo party track, though.
Firefox AK is the one woman outfit of Andrea Kellerman. The music is some great kind of Elektro Pop with some speed and action. This track is called “Love To Run“.
Nordpolen (The North Pole) is a one man outfit also produced in the studio of The Tough Alliance in Gothenburg. This is some very special music. The vocals are distant and quite unbarked, just as if the lyrics were written in a dark and lonely room of a bored teenager boy. Without distingguished melodies and no chorus this is different and very creative. This very track is called “Skimret” (The Dazzle).
Now last off is a track called “Alla Som Inte Dansar Är Våldtäktsmän” (Everybody Who Doesn’t Dance Is A Rapist) by the outfit “Maskinen” (The Machine). This a mix of some kind of Electro and Rap/Crunk. A lot of multi syllable rhyming to a dirty and creaky beat.
Okidoki, that´s it folks! Now enjoy the rest of the weekend!
The latest track from this italian DJ and Producer is a progressive and melodic track with great vocals by Melanie. It´s actually a quite amazing track, and when remixed by Agency Sweden it gets even more amazing. So check it out!
And by the way, speaking of Sweden; There will soon be a post with some all swedish electro/elektro pop/Indie Dance/Nu Disco – something which have become really huge here in Sweden. There´s a hell lot of great acts. Some of them you might already know of.
So tune in later on and get a musical piece of sweden – rather than a piece of furniture.
I´ve always loved the music of the 80s – not because it´s my generation, I only lived my first five years during the 80s – and its amazing sounds. The drum machines, the synthesizers, vocoders and dreamy vocal. The latest years there´s been sort of a 80s renassaince. Which I obviously love. And the old fashioned sound of video games combined with modern technology for bass, beats and sound forging brings about some magical retro music.
Here´s some tracks for you to check out.
Holla!
First off is a great track from awesome Ladyhawke´s self titled debut album. The album has been out for a while in the UK but I don´t actually know about the rest of the world. But believe me when I say, you will not miss this – it will hit the lists!
Ladyhawke – My Delirium
Next is a track by PNAU which also features the awesome Ladyhawke. It´s remixed by incredible Miami Horror and notorious Fred Falke.
Then a track from Soft Tigers named Mr Ice Cream and this track is also remixed by Miami Horror.
Soft Tigers – Mr Ice Cream (Miami Horror Remix)
Last off is a track from Le Tigre. Its a quite old but yet awesome remake of Pointer Sisters immortal classic, Im´s So Excited. Probably the best remake/cover/remix I have ever heard of this song.
Okey, I have been taking a pause from this blog. I needed to think. And I have now decided that this blog will take sort of a new direction. Since Kid Karate left the blog I have been running it by myself. This of course takes some more time and devotion. But the best part is that now I´m fully in charge and it´s all up to me what music to post. So from here on this blog will not be about bringin all the latest House music and trying to be something which it´s not. It will still have focus on electronic music but there will be more Nu Disco, Indie Dance, old classic New Wave etc. And the songs posted can be anything from 20 years old to daily fresh. Another change is that there will not be that much MP3´s, because we want to support the artist and instead provide you with links to where you can buy the great music.
Latenightshow loves music, and we know you do. And we think it´s about time that we all start to support the artists.
Im sorry that I´ve been so bad with the updates lately. But I´ve got a hell lot of other things to do, work, New Years Eve plannings, and just the other day I said yes to be playing at an event at New Years Eve. And on top of that my friends are bombing me with mails, messages etc. about New Year, and the question they all seem to ask is “what´s happening?”.
How ever, I will be playing at this private event. Two friends of mine will set up an event for about a hundred medical students. So I´ll be playing there till 02:00 AM, and after that straight to another party.
Two months ago I had nothing to do, now I´m over my shoulders in work. Well well.
Say what you want about the movies by french film maker Luc Besson. But one thing is sure – he´s great when it comes to combine great music with visually great action. We all remember when he had the french Hip Hop master producer IAM to produce and choose the music for the first of the Taxi movies. Any flaws regarding casting, script, performances etc. (do not forget the fact that now Acadamy Award Winner, Marion Cotillard, has a smoking hot part, though.) is simply compensated by a great soundtrack. The same thing could be said about Luc Bessons other trilogy, Transporter. In this third one he made the great decision to use some fresh Electro instead of just Hip Hop – and simply by that action Luc Besson steps up in rank, at least in my book.
So, on this soundtrack there´s two really great tracks. First the track from french Electro outfit, Birdy Nam Nam. From their EP “Worried” comes the track “Trans Boulogne Express“. This is some fresh Electro in that typical intense french way. Distorted sounds, drum machines and a very electro-ish Rock N Roll feeling.
Next track from this soundtrack is the track “Texas” by Benjamin Theves and remixed by Sebastian. This is some quite dirty Electro, not very unsimilar to the sound of Justice and other typical and influential french acts.
Many parts of this planet are now set to hibernate. The icy wind leaves us as deep frozen popsicles. It´s winter. And the only thing great with winter is skiing and snowboarding. Plus that very cute russian fur caps we see on the heads of beautiful women. But in times of cold weather we all need some heat! Something that have us thinking of sandy beaches and chilled cocktails. And what does it better than great music with warm basslines and moodful melodies?
First off is the latest track from Swiss producers Player & Remady, now by the name Remady P&R (at least this is how I have understood it, or maybe it´s just the Remady part of the duo, I´m not sure. So please correct me).
Now to a track by producers who have been referred to as “Americas answer to Justice“. Guns N Bombs are a fresh Electro outfit straight outta Cali, US. Their sound could be described as “european” and it´s not a lie to claim that they do sound a bit like Justice. Their track “Riddle Of Steel” is yet another proof of the fact that Americans can so much more than just produce RnB.
While the topic is Electro then why not bring you some of the greatest Electro to ever be exported by Japan. 80kidz is an outfit producing and remixing and making tracks so great they have really stated that Japan is not only a Mekka of creativity, but THE Mekka of creativity! This track is their remix of Hey Champ´s track “Cold Dust Girl“. But if you have not already checked out their EP “Life Begins At Eighty” then you should, right away!
With successful remixes on tracks from David Guetta and many others Paris Producer, Dj and Remixer, Joachim Garraud has really made a name of himself, and together with David Guetta he was one of the really big ones last year and some time before that too. The track I share with you this evening is called “I Will Love You Ayway” and remixed by great Eddie Thoneick (who also have had some massive success previous years).
Hangovered? Well, grab a glass of whiskey and get loaded again! Otherwise you did the right thing tuning in here. Because Latenightshow will get you in the mood for yet another crazy night downtown, alright! Polish your disco shoes and fold up your collar – it´s time to groove!
First odd this evening is a track from notorious Laurent Wolf. This guy recently gained some massive success with his monster hit “No Stress“. Now his on it again with a track called “Seventies“. It´s the same intense basslines and stomping beats. It starts up a little slower and more rhythmic, though.
Ilan Bluestone is young producer from London. His latest track, featuring Leibo, “Filthy Geezer” is a dark and heavy Progressive House/Trance track. It got this almost gothic chanting touch to it, especially the vocals. This version is remixed by the Los Angeles and Miami duo Grube & Hovsepian.
Less than a month ago (11/27 on Beatport) Thomas Gold released this next track called “Somethings Gotta Give“. It´s some quite deep Electro House with great vocals by Amanda Wilson and a nice piano in the melody. This very mix is a remix by Nash La´salle.
Producer Matt Samuels, together with For The Masses, have taken on the task to make a new hit out of Depeche Mode´s early 90´s classic “Enjoy The Silence“. The EP “Enjoy The Silence” contains five different mixes of the track, including mixes by both Workidz and Pete Griffiths. The track I´ll share with you is the remix by Noir.
